The Self-Study process is required every ten years by the University's accrediting body, the Commission on Colleges (COCS) of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). UK's institution-wide self-assessment culminates in a report on the quality of its educational effort, along with recommendations for improvement/enhancement. This Self-Study Report will provide the basic documentation for the April, 2002, visit to campus by a team of peer reviewers, whose findings will form the substance of their recommendations on reaffirmation of accreditation for UK.This site has several purposes:
- It serves as a common workspace and bulletin board for the multiple committees involved in the self-study process, which began in late 1999 and continued through early 2002.
- It provides a vehicle of communication from those involved in the work of the committees to the University community.
- It serves as a repository and place of publication of the Self-Study report and of information and documents which can be reviewed by the visiting accreditation team as well as members of the University community. This will be in addition to printed versions of the report and other materials generated in the process of its writing.
~ It provides a link to the final report of the SACS Reaffirmation Committee.
