Minutes - Sustainability Task Force - April 15th, 2004

Meeting came to order at 2:05 with Ben Carr welcoming everyone.

Mr. Carr then introduced the new staff person for the Task Force, Mr. Taylor Coots of Mr. Bob Wiseman's, VP of Facilities Office. Taylor will provide staff support for the Task force and will maintain and update the web content and minutes of the Task Force meetings.

Mr. Carr then introduced and gave the floor to the highlighted presenter for the day, from Berea College, Dr. Richard Olsen. Dr. Olsen is the director of the Sustainability and Environmental Studies (SENS) Program at Berea College.

Mr. Olson presented a slide show covering all aspects of sustainability at Berea College. This slide show can be viewed, with notes at http://www.uky.edu/services/sustainability/
Upon completion of the presentation Cheyenne Oldham, fund-raiser at Berea College, shared some of her ideas on the challenges and opportunities associated with fundraising for sustainability projects. She commented that a fund raising person should be included from the outset of the initiative to confront the challenges and knowledge gap that exists in sustainability.

Following a Q&A session with Dr. Olsen and Ms. Oldham, the meeting adjourned at 3:00 pm
