Social justice. Social work. Social change.
A career in social work offers the opportunity to help groups of people in many different settings. The only helping profession that emphasizes both human well-being and social justice, social workers strive to empower others to make the changes they desire in their lives and social workers advocate to bring about social change on a community and agency level.
Our Bachelor of Arts in Social Work program is accredited by the Council of Social Work Education (CSWE). The BASW program has been accredited since 1974 and the next review and site visit will occur in 2018-19 (For more information about accreditation please contact the Office of the Dean at firstname.lastname@example.org). The program prepares students to become professional social workers with social work major courses and a liberal arts foundation. Students have the flexibility to tailor their education to explore their interests through upper division electives, volunteer field placements in agencies with social workers, and involvement in extra-curricular activities.
Students who achieve high academic standards in the BASW program qualify to apply for a program that allows for quicker completion of the Master’s in Social Work (MSW) degree through the Advanced Standing Master of Social Work program.
