The University of Kentucky College of Social Work has a chapter, Xi Sigma, of the Phi Alpha Social Work National Honor Society. Inductions into the Society are held once per semester for students interested in joining. Eligibility requirements and information calling for applications are posted on the student listserv and outside the Director of Undergraduate Studies’ Office (POT 625), POT 613, and in the Student Lounge, POT 6th floor. Due dates for applications are announced each semester.
Both undergraduate and graduate students are welcome to join the organization and are invited to apply with completion of the application process. There is a lifetime dues of $20.00 to join the Honor Society. Undergraduate social work majors are required to have completed 9 hours of professional social work classes with an A or B in each course, and have at least a 3.35 cumulative GPA with a minimum of a 3.5 social work major GPA. Graduate students are required to have completed 15 hours of graduate social work courses and have a minimum GPA of 3.8.
