Funding: $25,000 per panel from CAPTA funds. The California Department of Social Services, Office of Child Abuse Prevention, is the lead agency for the CAPTA federal grant. The functions of OCAP include oversight of the panels, technical assistance and allocation of funds.
California has three panels. There are two local panels in San Mateo County and Ventura County and a statewide panel through the Prevention and Early Intervention Committee of the California Child Welfare Council. Each panel has a chairperson/coordinator responsible for assisting the panel members in following through with the meeting and reporting requirements.
