Research Projects
The UK Behavioral Health Disaster Response Project has a research component that strives to inform all training efforts and also make a contribution to the professional literature informing practitioners about the state of trauma practices. In 2004, a needs assessment survey was conducted of every mental health practitioner in the state of Kentucky. This same survey was distributed again to a national sample of clinical social workers and psychologists in 2005. A series of focus groups were also conducted in 2004 to elicit additional data to shed light on the state of mental healthcare being provided to individuals who have experienced various forms of trauma. Numerous articles based on these studies have been accepted for publication, however the articles are currently pending.
