Professor Robinson received her B.A. in 1993 from the University of Kentucky , her M.S.W. from the University of Kentucky in 1994, and is working to complete her doctorate in Social Work at the University of Kentucky within the next year.

Her current research and community development work focuses on child welfare, health disparities, and rural health issues. Professor Robinson’s most recent presentation was Community-based Research Education in Eastern Kentucky (CREEK): A Program to Build the Capacity of Rural Communities to Conduct Health Research for the Control and Prevention of Cancer and Chronic Disease in a Health Disparity Population (2006). Professor Robinson coordinates the Southeast Kentucky MSW which enrolls an average of 45 students annually. She also serves on multiple community advisory boards and collaborates with multiple partners to support the activities of the students enrolled in the MSW program and the community-based research teams in her region. Through this effort, she is helping to stimulate novel research that advances our understanding of health disparities in rural areas.
