The Setting at Hazard
Located in the heart of the eastern Kentucky coal fields, Hazard is about a two-hour drive east and south from Lexington. Classes are held at the UK Center for Rural Health. Distance Learning resources (internet and ITV courses among others) are occasionally used. Every resouce needed for successfully competion of the MSW program can be found at the Center for Rural Health. Occasionally, classes are held at remote regional areas given the geography of the applicant cohort. Plans are for the 60-hour MSW program to start every other year (odd years). This is, of course, dependent upon the volume of applicants. The Advanced Standing Program is scheduled to start in the Fall Term 2006. Classes for both the 60-hour program and the Advanced Standing Program are held in the evenings constructing a part-time programs.
