The University of Kentucky Training Resource Center (TRC) began in 1997 as part of the University Training Consortium (UTC) funded by the Kentucky Department of Health and Human Services. Now in its 11th year, the UK TRC has evolved and grown to include a wide array of projects and programs that support and serve Kentucky’s families.
The TRC is based within the UK College of Social Work and maintains collaborative partnerships with other colleges and departments throughout the university. The overarching goal of all of these collaborations is utilize the vast learning and development resources of the university to help advance child welfare services through cutting-edge training, consultation, and practice.
In addition to inter-university collaboration, the TRC is proud to be part of Kentucky’s University Training Consortium that includes all eight state universities, the Kentucky Community and Technical College System, and several private universities. This consortium coupled with the long-standing partnership between the UK College of Social Work and the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services makes bettering child welfare services and ultimately the well-being of Kentucky families a realistic and attainable goal. As such, it is our vision at the TRC that all Kentucky families who face challenges to their well-being will have access to appropriate resources and support. In turn, this access to resources and services will lead to an improved Commonwealth by way of better outcomes for children and families.
