A Family Team Meeting (FTM) consists of a CFS Facilitator, Department for Community Based Services staff, community service providers and, most importantly, the family.  The goals of an FTM are to gather all key players and family supporters to address all issues or concerns and to develop a plan to address these concerns that is mutually agreed upon by all parties.  During the course of a neutrally facilitated meeting strengths, concerns, and needs are addressed and a plan is negotiated with all parties to best meet the needs and concerns for the family.  Each FTM participant has an equal voice during an FTM and everyone’s contribution is valued and appreciated.

An FTM can be called at any point in the life of a DCBS case. It can also be requested by anyone affiliated with the case, such as the DCBS worker, a community partner, or a parent.  Families can invite anyone to the meeting that they see as a support for their family.  CFS is committed to making FTM services as readily available to families as possible. The location of the FTM is based on what is most convenient for the family.  Meetings can occur at the family’s home, out in the community, or at the DCBS Offices.

Through Family Team Meeting facilitation, Comprehensive Family Services (CFS) strives to create an environment for all parties involved that is safe and supportive to allow for the exchange of information. It is imperative that those involved in this meeting have an opportunity to express their ideas, in a safe, confidential, and respectful setting.
