Leslie Simpson (Ambassador Coordinator) is a graduate student and is working on attaining her Master’s in Instruction and Curriculum with a concentration in Secondary Mathematics Education. She is the daughter of David and Gaye Simpson of Frankfort‚ Kentucky. Leslie serves as the Ambassador Coordinator and is responsible for scheduling the activities of the Ambassadors. During her undergraduate career‚ Leslie served as president of the College Alcohol Use Student Educators‚ president of the Student Development Council‚ and president of Alpha Lambda Delta freshman honor society. Leslie is a graduate of the Emerging Leader Institute and has also served as a UK FUSION team leader‚ Teaching Explorers Program participant‚ and a UK101 peer instructor. Through the University Leadership Summit‚ Leslie became a member of the K Book Editorial Board. Leslie graduated Summa Cum Laude from UK in May 2007.
Scott McIntosh is a senior and will graduate in May with degrees in Economics and Accounting. He hails from Lexington‚ Kentucky and is the son of John and Lori McIntosh and the oldest of five siblings. Scott is currently serving in his second year as a UK Ambassador. He also serves as a University Leadership Summit Peer Facilitator‚ Teach for America Campus Campaign Manager‚ Phi Delta Theta Treasurer‚ UK101 Peer Instructor‚ FUSION team leader‚ and member of the K Book editorial board. Scott is also a member of Campus Crusade for Christ‚ a past Student Government Senator‚ and tour guide emeritus at the UK Visitor Center. Scott is an Otis A. Singletary Scholar and a member of the Honors Program; he has received Dean’s List honors each semester. He was also a 2007 finalist for the Harry S. Truman Scholarship. Scott’s future plans include law school and the Army JAG Corps‚ and he hopes to have an opportunity to serve the people of Kentucky in elected office. In his spare time‚ Scott enjoys playing intramurals with his fraternity brothers‚ weekends on the lake‚ politics‚ and spending time with his family and fiancé.
Patrick Nally‚ a first-generation college student‚ is a Marketing and Integrated Strategic Communication junior from Louisville‚ Kentucky. Since coming to UK‚ Patrick has been involved in many activities related to diversity‚ social justice‚ media‚ and poetry‚ including the Latin American Student Organization‚ Black Student Union‚ Channel 50‚ WRFL radio‚ King Cultural Center‚ Muslim Student Association‚ College Democrats‚ Violence Intervention and Prevention Center‚ and Poetry on the Patio. He has worked for the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs on student diversity engagement initiatives. Patrick comes from a background where education seemed out of reach‚ and he feels responsible to show other students that people aren’t lying when they say you can achieve what you want when you put your mind to it. Patrick plans to be the CEO of an entertainment and dining corporation‚ perform his poetry and music nationwide‚ be a fashion designer‚ and help develop a program that puts underdeveloped students like himself in a better position for higher education as well as personal growth.
Drew Trimble is a junior majoring in Political Science and Communication. He is from Johnson County‚ Kentucky and is the son of Steve and Pam Trimble. Drew has helped to restore the comprehensive freshmen publication‚ the K Book‚ and serves as the book’s editor and member of its board. He is a member of the K Crew‚ Student Development Council‚ and the University Leadership Summit. He is a Visitor Center student assistant in the Office of Admissions‚ UK 101 freshman orientation class peer instructor‚ and UK FUSION team leader. In the past he has also been involved with Young at Heart in the Center for Community Outreach‚ College Republicans‚ and the Arts and Sciences Ambassador Program. Outside of the University‚ Drew is a board member and Youth Advisor Council Chairman of the grassroots child advocacy organization Kentucky Child Now and is an active member of the Church of Christ. He has received Dean’s List honors every semester and was selected as 2007 Otis A. Singletary Outstanding Sophomore of the Year.
Zach Warriner is a senior majoring in Biology. He is the son of Doug and Sharon Warriner of Barbourville‚ Kentucky. In his junior year‚ Zach was an Ambassador for the College of Arts & Sciences as well as the assistant director for Project Health‚ encouraging other students in the medical field to get involved in volunteer work. Zach is in his third year as a member of the acoUstiKats‚ a fifteen member male a capella ensemble with the College of Fine Arts‚ and has enjoyed singing with the Men’s Choir since his freshman year. He attended University Leadership Summit in 2006 and currently serves as a peer facilitator for the program. He has been a FUSION team leader and currently works as a Visitor Center student assistant in the Office of Admissions. Zach is a Presidential Scholar and has maintained Dean’s List honors throughout his time at UK. He plans to attend UK’s College of Medicine upon graduation. In his free time‚ he enjoys scuba diving and fishing‚ playing piano or guitar‚ and skiing.
