Guard Wars 2008
The University of Kentucky’s Campus Recreation Department‚ along with the American Red Cross Bluegrass Chapter‚ are proud to present the Lancaster Aquatic Center Guard Wars.
Guard Wars is a lifeguarding competition‚ and a chance for your school to showcase the talents and skills of your lifeguards‚ in a friendly‚ yet competitive environment.
This is also an opportunity to meet lifeguards/students from other schools and to visit the beautiful UK campus. Guard Wars will be held at the Lancaster Aquatic Center‚ on the campus of the University of Kentucky‚ doors open at 1:00pm with the competition starting at 3:00pm on Saturday‚ April 19‚ 2008.
eligibility
Eligibility
- Only students working for your facility are eligible to compete.
- All team members must be American Red Cross certified.
- And all team members must show cards‚ or copies of cards‚ on arrival.
teams
Teams
- Each team will consist of 4 lifeguards‚ two males and two females‚ and one LGI‚ who will be a judge at one of the stations.
- Each team will rotate stations‚ no team will be judged by their own LGI judge.
- Each team member will compete at each station.
registration
Registration
- Registration fee for one team: $50 (must be received by March 14‚ 2008)
- Late registration fee for one team: $65 (must be received by April 8‚ 2008)
- Please make checks payable to: University of Kentucky.
- A refund of $30 will only be issued before March 14th‚ for teams who need to withdraw from the competition.

Awards
- The top three teams will receive trophies.
- Each member of the winning team will receive a prize.
- Each participant will receive a short-sleeved t-shirt.
