General Information
Statement of Purpose
The Lancaster Aquatic Center is available for the multipurpose of Instruction‚ Recreation‚ Competitive Training‚ Swimming and Diving Meets‚ and Special Aquatic Events for the University of Kentucky students‚ faculty‚ and staff. The Aquatic Facility is also available on a rental fee basis for activities by organizations outside of the University of Kentucky.

Valid ID must be presented for admission
Admission rules will be closely followed. A valid UK ID or “Special Program“ ID is necessary each time a person wishes to enter the facilities. There will be checkers at all times. Patrons are required to have their “ID“ out and visible each time they reach the ID Desk.
Who is eligible for admission to the Lancaster Aquatic Center?
- Full time or part time students at UK with Valid ID
- Students of Bluegrass Community and Technical College (who have paid their student activity fee) with Valid ID
- Full Time Faculty/Staff at UK with Valid ID‚ including Medical Center employees with valid UK ID
- Full Time Faculty/Staff at the Bluegrass Community and Technical College with a valid ID
- Full Time staff from VA Hospital (no spouses or children permitted) with valid ID
- Graduate Students at UK with Valid Graduate ID
- UK Retirees with UK ID card.
- Current members of the UK Alumni Association may purchase a swimming pass for $5 per visit (cash or check only). Alumni wishing to use this service must present their UK Alumni Association membership card and a valid photo ID (does not apply to spouse or dependents of alumni).
- Spouses‚ Children and Guests accompanying STUDENTS‚ FACULTY‚ STAFF‚ and RETIREE‚ or with proper ID‚ or with temporary pass from Lancaster Aquatic Center (Children must be 48 inches tall).
- Donovan Scholars currently enrolled in UK Donovan Scholarship program‚ valid Lancaster Aquatic Center Annual Pass
- Children of Students/Faculty/Staff must be 16 years of age or older to use the facility without an accompanying adult and must have a current pass. See special section on Children Admission.
- Guests of those eligible listed above.

Guests
Guest privileges are limited to one visit per month. Guest passes must be obtained from the Pool Lobby area of the Lancaster Aquatic Center IN ADVANCE at a cost of $2.00/day. Passes must be obtained from 10:00 am – 8:00 pm Monday through Friday. Guests must be with the UK pass purchaser during their usage at Lancaster Aquatic Center.
Summer Clinics‚ Conferences‚ Camps and Meetings – Must obtain special guest passes from Facility Manager of the Lancaster Aquatic Center IN ADVANCE. Normal charge for groups is $1.00 per person/day. Passes must be obtained from 10:00 am – 8:00 pm Monday through Friday in the Pool Lobby area at the entrance of the pool.
No One Under 48 Inches of Height is Permitted
Special rules for the Lancaster Aquatic Center instituted by the Fayette County Health Department state that no one under the height of 48 inches may be inside the Natatorium area of the facility or use the swimming pool except for special supervised programs. Building Rules
- Bicycles must be parked outside the building.
- Glass containers of any sort are not permitted in the Natatorium.
- Roller–blades/skate boards are not permitted in the building.
- Pool patrons must show proper identification for the specific program in order to gain entry to the Natatorium.
- The Lancaster Aquatic Center is a no smoking facility.
- No alcoholic beverages are allowed in the Lancaster Aquatic Center as per “University of Kentucky Administrative Regulations“.
Bulletin Boards and Posting of Signs
- All materials posted on Bulletin Boards (or doors) must have the approval of the UK Aquatic Director and/or the Pool Manager.
- No signs‚ posters‚ notices‚ or stickers will be allowed on walls‚ windows‚ doors or railings.
Locks left on Half and Full Lockers Overnight
- UK owned locks left on full or half size lockers overnight are subject to removal by the Equipment Attendant.
- Personal locks left on any lockers will be removed by Lancaster Aquatic Center staff. The LAC staff is not responsible for personal locks left on lockers overnight.
- Lancaster Aquatic Center staff or Campus Recreation is not responsible for any equipment left in lockers with unauthorized usage or non–university issued locks.
- Lockers must be rented from LAC Facility Manager and Graduate Assistant ‚ 10:00 am to 8:00 pm‚ Mondays through Fridays. Please go to the Pool Lobby area for these applications.
- Half size lockers may be rented for use by students‚ faculty and staff members and their spouses. Applicants must pay a fee at Aquatic Center Pool Lobby area. Checks only. NO CASH.
- Towel service is available for a fee with the same procedures as for the locker rental.
- New Towel/ Locker service requires a one time $5 registration fee. Monthly fee is $5 with a 3 month minimum restriction.
Scuba Equipment
The use of SCUBA equipment (air tanks‚ masks and snorkels) is prohibited in the Lancaster Aquatic Center during any Recreation Swim.
Pagers
Lancaster Aquatic Center employees shall not be responsible to monitor pagers. Pagers shall not be left on the lifeguard chairs.
Diving Equipment
Special diving equipment such as the diving tower‚ hot tub‚ radiant heaters‚ dry land onemeter board‚ trampoline‚ belts and rigs are for use only by the University of Kentucky Varsity Diving Team and by the Age Group Diving Team.
Animals
Animals such as dogs‚ cats‚ etc. shall not be allowed in the Lancaster Aquatic Center or in the Sun Deck area. The only exception shall be Seeing Eye Dogs.
Inclement Weather
The Lancaster Aquatic Center will be closed upon the first sighting of lightning or hearing of thunder. The patrons must clear the pool and deck areas. Patrons can congregate in the locker rooms and the lobby areas until the pool reopens. The showers will be unavailable while the pool is closed during thunder and lightning storms. Please assist our lifeguards in clearing the pool and deck areas when asked to do so. The Aquatics Director‚ Pool Manager or Lifeguard Supervisor will direct in the clearing and reopening of the pool.
Children Admission Rules
- Only children of Faculty‚ Staff‚ or Students of the University of Kentucky or the Bluegrass Community and Technical College (that have paid the activity fee) may utilize the facility.
- Children under 48 inches in height MAY NOT swim‚ be in the water‚ or be on the pool deck; they may not be on the pool deck in any capacity. (Supervised special programs exempt.)
- Children (of faculty‚ staff‚ students) fifteen (15) years and under must be accompanied by adult (adult defined as 18 years or older). These children must be 48 inches in height or more; Adults must observe the following safety rules:
- Adult must accompany child into the water and supervise. Adults in street clothes on the deck MAY NOT attempt to supervise children in the water.
- Adult shall not swim laps while child plays unattended.
- Adult shall stay within 6 feet (2 meters) of the child when in the water.
- Children 16 years and older must have current individual passes obtained IN ADVANCE in the Pool Lobby area (Front Desk) at the Lancaster Aquatic Center‚ Monday – Friday‚ 10:00 am – 8:00 pm
- Camps‚ Conferences‚ rental groups must have supervisor representatives present to assist in safety and supervision of children.
- Flotation devices must be US Coast Guard Certified and so marked plainly. The flotation devices known as “Swimmies” are prohibited.
- Beach balls are prohibited in the Lancaster Aquatic Center.
- Rafts and inner–tubes are prohibited in the Lancaster Aquatic Center.
- Snorkeling equipment and Scuba equipment is prohibited in the Lancaster Aquatic Center.
- Guest children must have guest passes‚ obtained in advance‚ from Lancaster Aquatic Center.
- The Lancaster Aquatic Center staff has complete authority on all patrons and activities in the swim facility.
Guest Passes
Available for purchase in the Pool Lobby (front desk area) of the Lancaster Aquatic Center.

Towel & Locker Service

- Towel & Locker service is available for our aquatic patrons. Please go to the Lobby Area of the Lancaster Aquatic Center to request this service.
- Quarter size lockers may be rented for use by students‚ faculty and staff members and their spouses. Applicants must pay a fee at the Lobby Area of the Lancaster Aquatic Center. CHECKS only. NO CASH. Checks must be made payable to (University of Kentucky Campus Recreation).
- Towel service is available for a fee with the same procedure as for the locker rental.
- A complete locker/towel rental procedure sheet and registration is available in the Pool Lobby area of Lancaster Aquatic Center. Office hours for this service are Monday – Friday‚ 10:00 am – 8:00 pm.
- This service is available for a $5 registration and a $5 monthly fee for the towel service. Please call Lancaster Aquatic Center‚ (859) 257–7940 should you have any questions.
Locks left on Lockers Overnight
