Tennis Singles
General Information
- Valid UK or BCTC student and faculty/staff IDs required to participate in Intramural events.
- Game time is forfeit time. There will be a designated check–in period followed by the calling of matches. If a player is not present when his/her game is called‚ it will be called a forfeit.
- Singles: A player may play in only one singles division/bracket.
- Athletic wear only. No open–toed or marking shoes allowed.
The Game
- Games will be played under the HONOR SYSTEM‚ “Call your own.”
- A match will consist of one set to 8 games.
- A win will must be by at least 2 games…(ex) 8–6‚ 8–4‚ etc.
- In the event of a 8–8 tie in the set‚ a tie–breaker game will be played to 8 points‚ win by 2 points with no cap.
- Winner of a coin toss has the option of serving first‚ receiving first or choosing the end of court.
- Singles play consists of only the inside areas of the court. Doubles and Co–Rec play also includes the outside side lanes of the court.
Serving
- Service games start from the right side. Second point is from the left and then serves alternate.
- Tie–breakers will continue on–serve with the server of turn taking one serve from the ad–court followed by the opponent taking two serves starting with the deuce court. After this‚ the servers will alternate two serves at a time until there is a winner. Tie–breakers are played to 8 points win by 2 points with no cap. Players will switch courts every 6 serves.
