k week discussion group assignment
You will participate in two meetings with your K Team during K Week. Students' K Crew leaders will communicate the location of these two meetings to new students via UK e-mail prior to their arrival on campus.
- K Week Kick-off Meeting on Saturday, August 21 at 7:00 p.m.
- Common Reading Experience Discussion on Tuesday, August 25 at 10:00 a.m.
Note:New students who have attended a Merit Weekend or Summer Advising Conference and have not been contacted by a K Crew leader by August 1, 2009, should contact Michelle Ashcraft at commonreading@lsv.uky.edu. International students and late registrants will be contacted by their K Crew leader prior to their advising conferences and the start of K Week.
What is a K Team?
After attending a Merit Weekend or Summer Advising Conference, all new students will be assigned to a small group, called a K Team, of 10-15 new students (both first-year and transfer). These K Teams will be led by a member of the K Crew.
Who are the K Crew?
The K Crew is a group of student leaders who are responsible for planning and carrying out K Week events. The K Crew will begin corresponding with their K Teams via UK e-mail after the Merit Weekends and/or Summer Advising Conferences. K Crew responsibilities include:
- Serve as new students' guide to starting life at UK
- Answer new students' questions
- Address new students' concerns
- Communicate information regarding Common Reading Experience and K Week Events
- Lead K Week Kick-off Meetings and Common Reading Experience Discussions
