The K Week Coordinators are two student leaders selected to oversee the Super Crew and K Crew. In collaboration with New Student and Parent Programs staff, they also plan and execute K Week events as well as train more than 300 student leaders on campus. In order to be a K Week Coordinator, students must first serve as a K Crew leader and Super Crew leader.
K Week Coordinator applications will be available in September 2015.
The Super Crew are a group of approximately 30 mid-level student leaders who supervise the K Crew and help plan and staff events during K Week. They also assist in overseeing the K Crew as they mentor and connect with their K Teams throughout the school year. In order to be a Super Crew leader, students must first serve as a K Crew leader.
Applications for Super Crew will be available in October 2015.
The K Crew are more than 300 students selected to serve as mentors and leaders to UK's incoming students. They each lead a K Team made up of new students during K Week and continue to mentor and connect with their teams throughout the school year.
Applications for K Crew will be available in February 2015.
Peer Instructors are students who are an essential component of UK 101 and UK 201, UK's academic orientation courses for freshmen and transfer students. Responsibilities include assisting the faculty instructor, teaching class sessions, and interacting with the students during in-class and out-of-class activities. More than 100 students are selected to serve as Peer Instructors each year.
Applications for UK 101 & 201 Peer Instructors will be available in February 2015.
UK 101 & 201 Peer Instructor Liaisons are current or former UK 101/201 Peer Instructors who help recruit new and returning peer instructors, assist with planning and executing trainings of instructors and peer instructors, and work to create a sense of community among all peer instructors. Four liaisons are selected each December and serve the following calendar year (January - December). Each liaison receives a small scholarship for their service.

Each year four students are chosen as Parent and Family Ambassadors. The Parent and Family Ambassadors support the work of the Parent Association and assist with campus activities for parents and families such as those taking place during see blue. U summer orientation, K Week, and Family Weekend.
Applications for Parent and Family Ambassadors will be available in February 2015. This is a paid position, with most of the job responsibilities taking place on campus in the summer.
The Common Reading Experience Peer Leaders assist New Student and Parent Programs staff in the coordination and implementation of the Common Reading Experience (CRE) program throughout the academic year. They aid new students in their academic transition to the University by connecting them to peers who serve as resources and role models for academic excellence, have a passion for learning, and serve as positive student representatives of the program. The CRE Peer Leaders plan CRE-related events, assist in the design and execution of the CRE author lecture, and serve on various committees. Three peer leaders are selected to serve in this position.
Common Reading Experience Peer Leader applications will be available in March 2015.
The K Book Editorial Board is comprised of eight to twelve student members, including one student editor, who are charged with writing UK’s new student handbook each year. The board is chosen for their written and oral communication skills, level of involvement at UK, willingness to make the K Book a top priority by committing ample time and energy, broad knowledge of UK, demonstrated commitment to academics, and ability to represent UK's diverse student body. The board meets weekly during the academic year.

Each year, one lucky sophomore has the opportunity to address thousands of new students and their families at the New Student Induction Ceremony during K Week in August. The speaker shares advice about being a new student at UK and offers wisdom gained during his or her first year of college to those about to do the same! It is a chance to share a unique perspective with new students and their families.
Current freshmen can apply to be the New Student Induction Ceremony speaker in March 2015.
