Dear UK Families,
It’s Back to School Time!
It is hard to believe the first day of classes is less than two weeks away! Hopefully your student has enjoyed the summer and is ready to return to campus soon. Here are a few updates as we all prepare for the start of the fall semester:
K Week
K Week (August 17-25) is the fall welcome week for new students, but it is also a chance for the entire University community to celebrate the start of a new school year. There are lots of activities scheduled that are open to all UK students, not just new ones. There will be opportunities to meet new people, further campus involvement, give back to the community, and enjoy free food and fun before classes start. Encourage your student to learn more about K Week online at www.uky.edu/KWeek.
Family Weekend Football Tickets
Family Weekend is only two months into the fall semester...what a great time to return to campus to check in with your son and daughter and participate in fun activities together. The finishing touches are being put on the schedule of events for Friday, October 19 - Sunday, October 21. The schedule will be available online at www.uky.edu/parents in September.
Families who are interested in attending the UK - Florida football game on Saturday, October 20, are encouraged to purchase their football tickets soon from the UK Athletics Ticket Office. UK Athletics has set aside some special tickets in the student section for Family Weekend participants. Families are encouraged to contact the Ticket Office beginning Monday, August 13, to purchase tickets. The Ticket Office is located in the Joe Craft Center on campus and is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Family Weekend tickets may be purchased in person or by phone at 1-800-928-2287 or (859) 257-1818. When you order your tickets, be sure to mention to the ticket agent that you are participating in Family Weekend. Family Weekend tickets will not be available to purchase online since they are in a separate seating area than the seats set aside for the general public.

Parking and Transportation News
Parking & Transportation Services (PTS) encourages both students and parents to sign up for Parking E-News, our e-mail newsletter. The newsletter is sent out periodically with information regarding parking and transportation, such as upcoming construction, new facilities, permit distribution, and other PTS-related services. It is a great way to stay informed (and to keep your student informed)! Sign up today for Parking E-News at www.uky.edu/Parking.
PTS is taking steps to improve the student parking permit renewal and application process. In order to cut down on long lines and wait times at PTS that have been common at the beginning of past school years, students must apply for permits online (www.uky.edu/Parking) or through the mail from August 1st through September 24th. Your student is encouraged to apply for a permit as soon as possible if he or she has not done so already.
