The new Obama Administration is behind the cross-hairs, domestically and internationally. Many experts say that doing all three is the only way to solve any of them. In this presentation Sarah Lynn Cunningham will show how addressing climate change would create jobs that cannot be exported and that will help to stabilize the domestic and international economy. Koyaanisqatsi Movie PosterKoyaanisqatsi Film Screening
10pm Worsham Theater
This movie was designed to have no plot. Driven by a visual concert of images set to the haunting music of composer Phillip Glass, there is a central idea behind the movie, and according to the director it is this: The greatest event in the history of mankind has occurred recently, and has been largely missed by both the media and academia. A deeper shift in human affairs has occurred: Humanity no longer exists in the natural world, we are no longer connected to it. Koyaanisqatsi: life out of balance; crazy life; life in turmoil; life disintegrating; a state of life that calls for another way of living.

This ride will begin with a discussion of local bicycling ordinances and will be a great opportunity to gain confidence riding your bicycle on the street. Helmets strongly recommended! The ride will conclude at the UK Student Center for a screening of the bike documentary Still We Ride. Film begins at 7pm in the Worsham Theater.

The movie takes on issues of civil liberties, surveillance, the power of mainstream media, and the benefits of alternative means of transportation.
