Eco-Rep Program
UK's Eco-Rep (ecological representative) program is an effort to promote a culture of sustainability and responsible citizenship in our residence halls through peer-to-peer education and outreach. Eco-reps are UK students who live in on-campus housing and have a desire to help UK balance ecological integrity, social justice, and economic vitality. 2008-2009 is the inaugural year for us and we are piloting our program in 6 residence halls: Ingels, Smith, Baldwin, Donovan, Holmes, and New North.
Our eco-reps host programs in their residence halls to provide education on wide range of topics including; food, energy, transportation and consumption. These programs include invited speakers, films, workshops and field trips.
In addition to providing peer-to-peer education and outreach, the program provides students interested in sustainability with a leadership opportunity and a chance to make a positive difference on campus.
