How We Can Help

Each residence hall has a live-in staff of Resident Advisors (RAs) and Hall Directors who are there to help you be successful. Our staff is carefully selected and trained to help you adjust to being on campus and what it means to be a student at UK. They plan activities, coordinate the opening and closing of the buildings, recognize academic achievement, help encourage students to become leaders, enforce policies and other measures to make sure our halls are safe and much, much more. Here are a few things we are proud of:

Everyone's WelcomeOutstanding Staff

The residence halls are place where every student, regardless of their background, can feel comfortable and consider their home while at UK. The Office of Residence Life promotes opportunities for residents to interact with each other in more meaningful ways in order to foster greater respect for individual differences.

Outstanding Staff

Academic SuccessResidents have rated our staff - through a recent Educational Benchmarking Study - in the superior to excellent range for helping solve problems, enforcing policy, treating everyone fairly, creating inclusive communities, being available and planning activities. This survey compares UK staff with residence hall staff from across the country.

Academic Support Providing a Blueprint

The Office of Residence Life promotes activities that pursue the academic goals and enhance the overall academic experience of our residents. Some examples have included study tables, tutoring, recognition of good grades on exams, and having professors lead study sessions for classes prior to major exams. We want the residence halls to be a place where you can study and achieve your academic goals!

Student Involvement

Student InvolvementResidence Life staff coordinate over 1500 community development activities for residence hall students each year! In planning these activities, staff members strive to meet specific objectives that include engaging campus and community resources, respecting and appreciating the diversity of the campus community, and participating in ways to give back through service.  In fulfilling these objectives, residents are able to further find opportunities for growth outside the classroom!

Residents Have a VoiceResponsible Citizenship

Hall Governments and the Resident Student Association (RSA) provide leadership development opportunities and an opportunity to make decisions for students living on campus. Hall Governments plan activities for their residents and RSA plans campus-wide events, such as Lil' Sibs Weekend‚ for everyone. Residents have the opportunity to attend state and regional conferences, as well as help plan programs for the entire UK campus.
