Card Access (24–Hour Controlled Access)

All residence hall exterior doors are locked 24–hours–a–day, 7–days–a–week. In addition‚ the exterior doors to the five Greek Houses supervised by the Office of Residence Life are also locked 24–hours–a–day‚ 7–days–a–week. All undergraduate students living on campus have 24 hour access to the residence hall or Greek House that they live in through the card reader located next to the main entrance (as well as selected interior) doors. Residents may access the building by sliding their student ID card through the slot of the card reader. Students’ ID cards do not give them access to halls in which they don’t live.

Guests may gain access to the hall through the use of telephones located outside each building. All visitors must use the exterior phones to contact the resident they wish to visit. Because these phones also have direct access to the University of Kentucky Police Department‚ they may be used as emergency telephones 24 hours per day. The resident is responsible for escorting his/her guest at all times within the hall.

Residents should remember to keep your ID with you at all times‚ so that you won’t be locked out.
