| Tuberculin Screening Requirement
All international students accepted for admission to the University
of Kentucky must comply with a mandatory tuberculin screening.
Students in any academic category entering the United States
for the first time, or transferring from another college, must
complete this screening. Students may be seen for the screening
beginning three weeks before the start of the semester for which
they plan to enroll and must have completed the screening by
the fourth week of the semester. Students should call 323-2778 at
the University Health Service to make an appointment for the
screening.
If you are a full-time student, you will be given a tuberculin
skin test and reading at no charge to you. If the test is positive,
a chest X-ray is necessary. The Student Health Fee no
longer covers diagnostic radiology testing. You will need
to have health insurance to cover the cost of X-rays and other
radiology tests. Please refer to your specific health
insurance plan for information about coverage.
Part-time students who have not paid the University Health Service
health fee must pay for any costs incurred with the screening.
Students failing to meet the tuberculin screening requirement
will have a "hold" placed on their registration for
the following semester.
