Amanda Nicksic,
Outreach and Programming Specialist
Amanda is a proud native of Arizona and recent California transplant. While she might be new to the concept of winter (and snow), she's not new to the concept of partner violence and sexual assault. She has been a victim advocate for many years. Her interest and involvement began while serving in the military (8 years). GO NAVY!! Most recently, she worked as the Education and Training Coordinator for PEACE for Families, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping victims of violence and sexual assault.
She's excited to be working on the UK Campus and can't wait to meet with students and spread the Green Dot word!!
Likes: Girl Scouts, golden retrievers, Foo Fighters, air conditioning, Diet Coke, being creative, reality TV, being from Kentucky, basketball, politics and Mexican food
Can't live without: Ranch dressing (it goes with everything) and Chapstic
If I won the lottery: You'd be welcome to come and stay with me at my villa in Greece. We'll hike the Samaria Gorge (bring your Chaco's) and eat Tzatziki until we burst.

- I talked to my friends about the SEEDS retreat I went to.

- I got my fraternity brothers to attend SEEDS.

- I told the bartender about someone who I saw slip something in someone’s drink.
- I was there for my friend when she told me she had been assaulted.
- I volunteer at the VIP center a couple hours a week.
- I told my story at Take Back the Night.
- I participated in the Umbrella Walk.
- I did my English paper over power based personal violence.
- We did a group presentation on VIP.
- I wore my green dot button, and someone asked me about it.
- A couple was arguing loudly in a restaurant, and I told the manager.
- My friends now know not to make sexist jokes around me.
- When a news article comes out relating to violence, I discuss it with my friends.
