Who is on the SOC Committee?

  • SOC Case Manager
  • Academic Ombud
  • Assistant Vice President of Campus Services
  • Associate Vice President of Student Affairs/Dean of Students
  • Associate Vice President of Student Affairs/Residence Life
  • Associate Dean of Students for Student Conduct
  • Director of the Counseling Center
  • Director of the Disability Resource Center
  • General Counsel
  • University Health Services Student Behavioral Health Director
  • UK Police Department
  • Vice President for Student Affairs

Other members of the UK community may be asked to attend an occasional meeting when a student of concern to that individual is being discussed.

The SOC Committee will:

  • Share the identity of the student about whom they are concerned with other members so that others will be aware of the student's needs and may be able to initiate assistance;
  • Consult with one another about appropriate strategies for assisting a student;
  • Agree upon a plan of action so that various university personnel are taking a consistent approach when assisting a student;
  • Identify a point person to coordinate the assistance that a particular student may receive; and
  • Determine who needs to have information about a particular student so that the optimal balance between offering assistance and maintaining privacy of the student is achieved
