Super Start Fall 2014
We are finalizing the volunteer schedule for Super Start on the first two days of classes (Wednesday, August 27th and Thursday, August 28th) from 7:30AM-3:00PM both days. Many across the Division of Student Affairs have signed up and there is still plenty of opportunity for staff to contribute their time to supporting students in these important first days.
Please use the links below to sign-up for a shift at one of the three locations. Information will be provided at each location to answer questions for students along with cold water.
* Note for the Rose St/Funkhouser Drive location where there are question marks reflected in the Doodle sign up, these are open slots and can be filled.
Thank you for the continued support for this particular opening of school program amidst many other opening activities. If there are any questions, Rhonda Strouse in the Office of Student of Involvement will be glad to assist you.
FUSION Fall 2014
FUSION (For Unity & Service in Our Neighborhoods) is a day of service during K Week (Monday, August 25th from 8:30AM-4:00PM), sponsored by the Center for Community Outreach, and planned by student leaders. We anticipate more than 1,000 students serving at 100 non-profit & neighborhood locations in the community. We are looking for faculty and staff to serve as Site Advisors which entails being partnered with a trained, student Site Leader, and accompanying a group (typically 10-20) of students on their day of service.
The primary role of Site Advisors is to serve as "back-up" to Site Leaders & help maintain an safe and enjoyable day for all. This is a great opportunity to interact with students in a different way, serve the community, and help welcome our newest class of WildCats! It is a full day commitment, starting with an opening ceremony at Johnson Center Field, a day of service and ending with the FUSION After Pary back on the field. Transportation, lunch and a t-shirt are provided!
* Note: you will have to create a VolunteerMatch account to sign up. Student participant pre-registration is encouraged, but students can also sign-up on the field.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact Jillian Pyatte.
Parent/Family Reception Fall 2014
You are invited to participate in a special K Week event for parents and families on Friday, August 22nd from 6:00PM-8:00PM in the Student Center Grand Ballroom. This informal reception is meant to be an opportunity for parents and families to get last-minute questions answered by administrators, faculty, staff and student leaders. The Office of New Student & Parent Programs knows how busy you are, but wanted to extend the invitation in case any of you are interested in participating.
Please contact Nancy Stephens in the New Student & Parent Programs Office to indicate if you plan on attending. She will follow-up with you with additional instructions.
