| 4/24/06 - End of the Semester Updates |
Posts on this magnificent site notwithstanding, it turns out that the months of February, March, and April did in fact take place, and there was even some quizbowl-related activity in them. What sort of activity, you may be asking? |
| 1/28/06 - The Sword Bowl of Tournaments |
For the opening of the traditionally awful spring semester the UKAT was presented with a new tournament, of sorts, in the form of the Sword Bowl, which for the first time was thrown open to "Seniors". This gave Seth the excuse he needed to divest himself of his linen bandages, gather his internal organs from their Canopic jars, and stagger out of his pyramid to field himself as a team, where in the senior division his shambling gait was finally halted by Vanderbilt, leading to his by-now familiar and comfortable position in second place. The place to waste some more time reading about this is here. |
| 12/31/05 - A series of updates |
Well, a New Year is coming, and in the spirit of the day's customary free-flowing intoxicants (or similar inducers of nausea) the UKAT has decided to offer its devoted followers the heady mead of the chronicles of its exploits at various tournaments in November and December. You may select your poison from the following libations, but remember to read responsibly.

| 10/22/05 - Center of the Known Universe |
On Saturday October 22 the UKAT fielded three teams at the eighth annual Center of the Known Universe Open, which on balance may have been the best COTKU since the very first back in 1998. This is not to say the teams enjoyed a great deal of success, however: the Div II team finished fifth in its bracket and missed the playoffs, the Div. I second team finished last overall, and the Div. I first team finished third. For more on this event, strap yourself in for the rollercoaster-ride that is the writeup, which may be found here. |
| 09/25/05 - The wonders of statistics |
The remarkable dispatch with which the Georgia Tech team has posted the results of their Heinrich Bowl has practically demanded a revision (and, as it should practically go without saying, a lengthening to the point of absurdity) of the writeup for that tournament, which has been duly made in time for it to be utterly ignored by pretty much everyone, on par with the fate of this page in general. Amusingly, Tech's page initially referred to the UKAT's representative as "Seth from UTC"; it would seem that he spends so much time at UTC tournaments that he has become a part of their team by association. An e-mail was dispatched to Tech lest the UTC be overly scandalised by the identification, and to remind the circuit at large that the only team cursed with Seth's membership remains that of the University of Kentucky. |
| 09/24/05 - Heinrich Bowl at Georgia Tech |
The saga of the annual Heinrich Bowl transpired on Saturday, September 24th, with the ultimate result that the UKAT - represented by a one-man team consisting of its prodigal founder Seth Kendall, who put in his customary uninspired performance - managed to rack up yet another less-than-impressive second-place finish. The gripping prose-poem that is the tournament writeup may be found here. |
| 08/26/05 - New Practice Schedule and meeting times |
The UKAT will resume its activities for the new semester on September 8th. Practices for the upcoming semester will be held in Room 117 of the Student Center on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 6-8 PM. As has been our policy over the last eight years, any enrolled student at the University may join the team; simply come to practice, pick up a buzzer, and start playing. We look forward to seeing you there! |
| 08/22/05 - A host of updates |
In order to set the tone for the changes to come with the new season, a number of (in some cases long-overdue) updates have been added to the site. In the first place, so that this page not be overlong and to clear away the clutter for reports from the upcoming 2005-2006 season, all of last season's news posts have been to the News Archive, where you may go to relive all the thrills and merriment associated with reading them. Furthermore, accounts of the hot summer action can be found here. Finally, various mistakes were fixed, links were updated, et cetera, so that the doubtless vast reading public might enjoy a clean and tidy site.
