The very fact that the format of this tournament was anything other than pure ACF meant that the UKAT would not have as much fun or do as well at it; nevertheless, Michigan's crew did much to provide (mostly) academic, well-written questions, as well as running a fairly smooth, seamless event, and there was enjoyment to be had in the tournament. Among the latter are such highlights as the excellent moderating of Anne Mitchell, the initial good play of the team, the return of Steven Richardson to the game after a semester off in Australia, and an all-star for Kelly; lowlights include the gradual disintegration of our skills in the playoff games whose end result was losing to Andrew and Subash, and the oddball playoff system which used combined points from two games (by which we lost after being beaten in the final game by a margin to erase the lead we'd taken out of the first meeting) instead of best of three games played. The outcome was, in sum, a pretty good time for all.

NOTE: This tournament's official stats, which are supposed to exclude playoffs, actually include two rounds of the Swiss pairs play (in addition to the 9 round robin games), but not the third (what a mess). What you see here are the correct stats for Division I through game 11. Whatever. Here is your writeup:

Well, what can we say? We knew what we'd be getting when we signed on for the tournament, and NQT has yet to belie our expectations of it. Best to leave it at that; as far as results go the A team was whalloped in the finals by NQT juggernaut Florida (congratulations to them) and the Division II team finished 5-8 (according to Steinhice's Yahoo group post), with a Division II all-star going to Richardson and MVP honors going to Kelly. Highlights mostly revolve around non-game activities, such as a drunken viewing of the opening ceremonies of the Olympics, a definition of "Everclear" by a GREAT liquor store clerk, the principled absence of David James, and meeting Depauw's Rose [Almost six years ago (holy cow!), during a Governor's Scholars function, I was introduced to Rose by my high school friend Adam. The three of us got to loiter around the Galleria and downtown Louisville for an afternoon, but sadly I can't remember much of what we did. Anyway, I was very startled and pleased to see Rose again, especially at an NQT nerd-a-thon! So cool. -Ed.]
