The team decided to give NQT a try this year and attended the SEC Conference Championships. We fielded two teams to this event, whose names were supposed to be "Kentucky 'Big Big Big'" and "Kentucky 'Red Red Red'", but it turns out that we didn't submit team names in time or something, and almost no one got the joke ("That's why they call him..."). Anyway, the "Red Red Red" team of Robert, Jarrett, Steve, and Sean finished in sixth place with a record of 8-6, while the "Big Big Big" team of Kelly, Seth, Neal, and Lou lost to Vanderbilt in the round-robin, and, in the playoff game with the latter, unfortunately lost that as well for a second place finish. Bummer. One the other hand, the were such highlights as getting to hang out with Seth's beautiful fiancée, and Kelly leading the field in scoring, so the experience was not a wholly unpleasant one.

Kelly 11 17 31 7 6.86 530
Seth 11 7 28 4 8.75 365
Robert 11 2 20 2 11.00 220
Neal 11 0 4 0 -- 40

Hmm; well, this tournament was about as enjoyable as the Conference Championships, for pretty much the exact same reasons, except that 1) we didn't get to hang out with Tiffany (Seth's fiancée at the time, and now his wife) in Nashville, and 2) we didn't finish second. So, basically, we didn't get a whole lot out of the tournament itself (no offense to Furman, though, who did do a good job of running the thing, with the exception of the lack of clocks); highlights revolve around Kelly's excellent play (again, he led the field in scoring) and in getting to make fun of a team, who shall remain nameless, who perpetrated a horrible incident of poor sportsmanship against us, about which we still get a few chuckles, though it was pretty infuriating at the time.
