what is guerilla theatre?
an act of political protest, guerilla theatre mocks the powers that be. street theatre has proven to be an effective method of protest by directly confronting wrongful conditions and raising awareness of such conditions.
the creative film society sponsors a unique kind of guerilla theatre. instead
of live actors, the moving image tells the tale. armed only with a projector,
cfs scouts the town for an ideal location. in our case, an ideal location is any
large, flat, vertical surface with low lighting: the side of a building, under
a bridge. the location is announced, word spreads, the projector is cued, and
thanks to wrfl 88.1 fm, the audio signal is beamed over the airwaves.
think of it as a makeshift drive-in theatre, transforming a different space each time.
check back here at the cfs site to find out when the next guerilla theatre comes
to your town.
