Why should I teach? |
| 1. Breaking down steps and patterns will help make you a better dancer; and it will also help you learn faster when you take lessons from other instructors, attend workshops, practice, etc. |
| 2. Teaching gives you the opportunity to share and give something back to your fellow swing dancers and to the swing dance community. |

I'm interested in teaching, but what if I'm not a great dancer?! |
|
Of course, you need to have a certain level of proficiency to teach.
But, just liked when you started dancing, you have to start sometime!
Lots of instructors would probably tell you that the first time they taught,
they didn't feel ready, but were glad they made the
plunge! Some important attributes you should possess if you want to teach: |
| 1. A willingness and an ability to study and understand the process of teaching as it applies to swing dancing. |
| 2. A willingness to make the time commitment to prepare to teach, and to teach. |
|
3. A desire to share all the great things about swing with other people! |
|
How many classes and what type of content would I teach? |
|
1. Keep in mind that the UK Swing Dance Club provides
swing dance instruction primarily in the original swing dances of the 1930's: Lindy Hop
and Balboa. 2. As long as you stay within those styles, a lot of what you teach would be up to you. (Note that the Club likes to coordinate all the instructors' classes to avoid unnecessary overlap, confusion, etc.) You could teach something that requires two weeks of classes, three weeks, etc. If you have the desire to teach, the details can be worked out. |
