About Mortar Board
Mortar Board is a National Senior Honor Society that was established in 1918. Since then membership has grown to over 200 chapters and 180,000 members. The University of Kentucky Staff and Crown Chapter, established in 1920, was one of the founding chapters. Mortar Board honors college seniors for their commitment to scholarship, leadership and service. Election is limited to a maximum of 40 outstanding seniors annually. Election to Mortar Board is not only an honor, but also a commitment to continued service to one's community and university, and academic excellence. Criteria for
Membership
Members of Mortar Board are selected for superior scholarship, outstanding leadership, and constant service to the university and community. The Membership Committee looks for seniors who have established an excellent record in all three areas. Membership requires ACTIVE involvement in chapter activities. To be eligible for election the following criteria must be met:
Self-nomination form OR Nomination
by faculty member or administrative staff form
