Drums Of Winter (mp3)

Drums Of Winter is a movement of John Luther Adams' evening-length opera entitled "Earth and the Great Weather." Instrumentation is three toms each for players I and II and two large bass drums each for players III and IV. The three drum quartets in Earth and the Great Weather are formally desined around increasingly dense mathematical ratios interwoven with Chaos Theory inspired patterns of accents. This was originally recorded at Brian Archinal's Junior Recital in February of 2007. Performers include Davy Anderson, Aaron Graham, Ryan Nestor, and Brian Archinal. Adams' musc is published by Taiga Press.
