Constitution

Article I: The name of the organization will be QueerInfo. Article II: The purpose of the organization will be: 2.1 To disseminate information concerning the local, regional, and national queer community to all interested persons 2.2 To utilize all available media for the above purpose 2.3 To seek to maintain a publicized community information phone number 2.3 To raise funds for the above purposes 2.4 To act as a politically neutral organization in the above objectives. Article III: The organization will consist of the general membership, the Executive Council, and all committees and commissions formed under this constitution. Article IV: Membership: 4.1 The organization will consist of any and all students, faculty, and staff who are interested in the purposes described in Article II. 4.2 Voting will be open to all members who help to work toward the purposes of the organization. Article V: Meetings: 5.1 Regular meetings will be held as deemed necessary by the Executive Council. 5.2 Meetings shall be called by the President, to be announced to the membership via Listserv at least three days prior to the meeting. 5.3 Special meetings may be held upon majority vote of the membership or of the Executive Council. Article VI: Executive Council 6.1 The Council will consist of the President, Vice-President, Secretary/Treasurer, and such other persons as they deem by vote necessary to the purposes of the organization. 6.2 Duties and responsibilities 6.21 Conduct the general management of the affairs and purposes of the organization. 6.22 Prepare the agenda for meetings. 6.23 Such other duties as the membership may by vote confer. Article VII: Officers 7.1 President 7.11 Is the chief executive officer of the organization 7.12 Has the responsibility of the good and efficient management of the organization 7.13 Serves as the official representative of the organization, authorized to speak on behalf of the organization 7.14 Presides over all meetings 7.15 Appoints all committees established by vote of the membership 7.16 Is a non-voting, ex-officio member of all committees 7.2 Vice-President 7.21 Performs executive duties in the absence of the President 7.22 Assumes all other duties assigned by the President 7.3 Secretary/Treasurer 7.31 Records all minutes of organization meetings 7.32 Carries on correspondence of the organization in the absence of a correspondence committee 7.33 Preserves letters, papers, and documents of the organization 7.34 Oversees the receipts and disbursements of the organization's funds and keeps an accurate and itemized account thereof 7.35 Prepares the annual budget for the organization and presents it to the general membership 7.36 Assumes all other related duties as delegated by the President. 7.4 Term of office 7.41 Officers elected by the membership will serve one year beginning at the Fall Semester Election Meeting Article VIII: Committees and commissions will be established as needed by vote of the membership. Article IX: Elections 9.1 Full or part-time students who are members of the organization in good academic standing may run for office 9.2 Nominations for officer elections will be held at the Election Meeting 9.3 The Election Meeting will be held on the second Wednesday of the Fall Semester, or as called by the President at or near the beginning of the Fall Semester
