UKBA

What is UKBA?

Constitution-Purpose

The University of Kentucky Buddhist Association was formed in Fall ’97 to bring together U K Buddhists from all cultures ‘round the world for fellowship and mutual support, and to provide a place for all to come who have an interest in Buddhism.

We welcome everyone as brothers and sisters; we delight in diversity, and see in all the same. All is one in Interbeing. All are one in Loving-Kindness, Compassion, Joy, and Equanimity.

The Buddha’s compassion is boundless; the Buddha shows the way to freedom for all in equanimity. Yet the conditions for each are different, so the Buddha adjusted his presentation of the Dharma to each as appropriate. Buddhism has spread during nearly 2600 years through many cultures, and Buddhist practice takes many forms. Those who practice (or are interested in) Zen (Chan), Pure Land, Theravada, Tibetan, or other traditions of Buddhism are equally welcome in UKBA. We come together in the fundamentals of Buddhist Dharma and practice, and help each find support for continued cultivation in their own specific tradition.

People (all sentient beings, actually) of all religious faiths (including none), and all philosophical persuasions are welcome to come investigate Buddhism. Through UKBA may the Buddha’s compassion and wisdom bring freedom and joy into all of our lives.

If you share with us a common purpose, please share with us a common practice. The University of Kentucky Buddhist Association has its being through University of Kentucky Buddhists.

UKBA  is a way Buddhists can gather together, enjoy each other, know the Buddha's teachings, and support one another in practice and in all things.

UKBA is a way those who have any interest in Buddhism (or are just curious) can (with Buddhists) gather together, enjoy each other, know the Buddha's teachings, and support one another.

UKBA is a way to propagate the Precious Buddha Dharma and bring joy into people's lives.

UKBA is a way to help us learn life, live life, and love life.

UKBA is for anyone from anywhere.  UKBA is for unity in diversity.

UKBA is for anyone interested in Buddhism.  EVERYONE IS WELCOME!  Please come join us.
