  • ADAPT: American Disabled for Attendant Programs Today.

  • America's Athletes With Disabilities

  • American Association for People with Disabilities

  • Americans with Disabilities Act, documents center.

  • Disability and the Workplace: An Internet Primer, Catherwood Library, located at the School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University, offers an extensive guide to Internet Resources dealing with several levels of physical and mental disability and the workplace. Detailed annotations of indexed sites cover topics including the Americans With Disabilities Act, government sites, worker's compensation, and job hunting. The Getting Started section lists resources for those with disabilities.

  • Disability Resources chosen by librarians at O'Keefe Library, St. Ambrose University.

  • Disability Resources on the WWW

  • Engaging Differences Project, from the University of Kentucky. Focused on enhancing the quality of education and services provided to postsecondary students with disabilities on the University of Kentucky campus.

  • Global Networking, (Formerly DisOrgNet) "designed to facilitate networking among organizations working in the disability field." Maintained by the Institute for Independent Living.

  • Guide to Disability Resources on the Internet

  • Disability Resources Monthly, newsletter that monitors reviews and reports on resources for independent living.

  • Emergency Info Online, resource directory that provides information regarding organizations involved in emergency preparedness and communications, particularly as they relate to the Emergency Alert System and individuals with disabilities. Includes information about and reports from government agencies and commissions, private and not-for-profit organizations, and foreign and international groups pertaining to their work involving response, recovery, and communications during times of emergency, with an additional focus on the accessibility of such communications for people with disabilities.

  • Interdisciplinary Human Development Institute, University of Kentucky. A University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research and Service, IHDI focuses its efforts on improving lifelong opportunities and services for individuals with disabilities, their families and the community.

  • Kentucky Assistive Technology Services Network

  • National Council on Disability, independent federal agency making recommendations to the President and Congress on issues affecting disabled Americans.

  • National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, from the Library of Congress. NLS administers a free library program of braille and recorded materials circulated to eligible borrowers through a network of cooperating libraries.

  • National Sports Center for the Disabled

  • University of Kentucky's Disability Resource Center

  • Web Accessibility Tips, including Organizations and Agencies Focused on Accessible Web Design, Strategies and Tools for Evaluating Accessibility, and Techniques and Tools for Creating Accessible Web Sites.




    Mental Health Resources

  • American Psychological Association

  • Internet Mental Health, encyclopedia of mental health information. Designed by Canadian psychiatrist Dr. Phillip Long.

  • Knowledge Exchange Network, from National Mental Health Services.

  • Mental Health Net, organized into three sections: Disorders & Treatments, Professional Resources, and the Reading Room.

  • National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, includes information on treatment, managed care, research, public policy, disorders, and medications.
