Includes the electronic Buddhist Text initiative, Buddhist literature, and an introduction to Buddhism. Features the Buddhism Virtual Library, CyberSangha, Dzogchen Foundation, the Dunhuang Web, and other Buddhism-related sites.

  • Cervantes International Bibliography, annual bibliography about the life and works of Miguel de Cervantes (1547-1616).

  • China the Beautiful, Classical Chinese Art, Calligraphy, Poetry, History, Literature, Painting and Philosophy.

  • Chinese Classics, directory of information on Chinese literature classics, sponsored by the Council on East Asian Libraries (CEAL). Features the "I Ching," the "Book of Songs," "Shih Chi," and primers. Includes the writings of Lao Tzu, Sun Tzu, Chuang Tzu, Mencius, Kueiku Tzu, Tso Chuan, and Confucius.

  • Chinese Literature, directory of information on Chinese literature, sponsored by the Council on East Asian Libraries (CEAL). Features the People's University reprint series list, the Robert van Gulik bibliography, and lists of Chinese serials. Includes information on classic novels, the scope of Chinese literature, literary traditions, journals, magazines, and Chinese writers. Provides access to other Chinese literature sites and links to the China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, and CEAL home pages.

  • CrossConnect, literary review based at the University of Pennsylvania.

  • Dante

  • 18th Century Resources, a collection of Internet resources related to the 18th century, including literature, art, history, and the history of science. Also includes a complete catalogue of electronic texts from the 18th century, roughly from Milton to Keats.

  • The Elizabethan Review, a peer-reviewed journal focusing on the English Renaissance, The Elizabethan Review publishes new research on the controversies of the period, from the century-old contention of the Shakespeare authorship to the wars of the Counter-Reformation.

  • E-Text Sites

  • Western European Literature Online Text Collections, annotated directory of Internet sources for literary texts in Western European languages other than English. Some of the literature archives listed contain texts with restricted access, but all sites have at least some texts freely available. Lists literature collections in order of size, and includes texts in Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Icelandic, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, and Swedish.   • Feminist Bookstores, extensive, international list of feminist bookstore addresses, arranged by country, regional division and city, then city code. Includes many countries, such as Canada, Bangladesh, Australia, The Netherlands, Germany, England, and the United States.

  • Film Resources

  • Gale's Literary Index serves as a master index to the major literature series published by The Gale Group. It combines and cross references more than 130,000 author names, including pseudonyms and variant names, and more than 140,000 titles into one source. The bulk of the titles indexed are available in the Young Library Reference Collection.

  • The Great Works of Western Civilization, presents several lists of works along with links to the texts available on the Web.

  • The Hungry Mind Review, a quarterly book review magazine founded in 1986, and distributed free in independent bookstores around the country.

  • Inter-Play, an index to plays in collections, anthologies & periodicals.

  • adab islami. Islamic literature in the 20th century.

  • Iter: Gateway to the Middle Ages & Renaissance. non-profit research project with partners in Toronto, Canada (the headquarters), New York City, and Tempe, Arizona. The goal of Iter is to increase access to all published materials pertaining to the Middle Ages and Renaissance (400-1700), through the creation of online bibliographic databases. The Journals Database includes approximately 230,000 records (as of October 2000) from secondary materials published in over 400 journals, from 1859 to the present. Proxy Access.

  • Literature@SunSITE, the Digital Library SunSITE is building a collection of digital texts that can be read online, printed, or downloaded for further study. Each issue is built around a particular theme, and includes reviews and essays by some of America's finest writers.

  • De Proverbio, An Electronic Journal of International Proverb Studies.

  • The Quarterly Black Review of Books, site that reviews the latest in Black fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and children's books. Also includes a feature section as well as a guide to Black classics by author, a listing of works of great Black writers that includes W.E.B. DuBois, Langston Hughes, Maya Angelou, and Alice Walker.

  • Scandinavian Cultures, providing access to Viking Culture and Norse civilization resources, the Project Runeberg database for classic Scandinavian literature, and OLDNORSENET. A service of Labyrinth.

  • The Sixteenth Century Journal, encompassing art, literature, and history from 1450 to the end of the 30 Years' War.

  • St. Pachomius Library, offers the literature of the early Christian Church in electronic form. The Library's archives contain non-copyrighted English translations of the Church Fathers, the acts of the Christian martyrs, the proceedings of the Councils, and the lives of the early saints. Includes Greek sources to A.D.1200, Byzantine writers A.D.1200+, Western sources to A.D. 1100, Syriac writers, lives of saints, liturgical documents, and African Orthodoxy. Provides a global index.

  • Studies in Bibliography On-Line, from The Bibliographical Society of the University of Virginia and the University Library's Electronic Text Center. Will include the full text of the nearly one thousand articles in the 49 annual volumes of Studies in Bibliography (1948-1996) in a searchable and browsable database. It will be completed in time for the 50th volume of Studies in spring 1997.

  • TEXTE: Revue de critique et de thorie littraire, from the Department of French, University of Toronto. Seeks to provide a forum for dialogue between the different approaches to the literary text by bringing together innovative and authoritative work on a given textual topic.

  • Theater Resources

  • VietGATE: Information about Things Vietnamese. Provides information about all things Vietnamese, including publications, pictures, film clips, Vietnamese software, fonts, and literature. Provides details about Vietnamese communities in cities around the world, social programs, restaurants, and organizations. Links to political discussions sites and offers a listing of Vietnamese-oriented Web pages.
