Second Life is a Multi-User Virtual Environment (MUVE) used for social interaction and, increasingly, for education. Never heard of Second Life? Heard of it but not sure how a “game” can be used for education? Please come to a drop-in session during the Second Life International Best Practices in Education Conference on May 25. Members of the UK community who are active in Second Life will be available for questions and demonstration during the conference.

When:
May 25, 9:00 – 4:00 (drop in any time during this period)

Where:
Main site is room B108-A in the basement of Young Library.
Wimba sessions can display the event elsewhere on campus. See How to participate via Horizon/Wimba for information on connecting to the Wimba session from your desktop.

What:
The conference itself takes place in the virtual world, but we will
display the event in the computer classroom (B108-A Young Library) and through Wimba to other locations. Visitors to Young Library can drop in any time during the day to view conference sessions and talk with members of the UK community about educational activities in Second Life. Participants in the Wimba sessions can watch conference events and ask questions of the UK participants via chat.

For questions about the Education in Second Life Drop-in Conference contact Beth Kraemer or Randolph Hollingsworth.

For questions about Wimba contact Patsy Carruthers, Lisa Bramel or Rex Stidham.
