New Streaming Server

The Teaching Academic Support Center (TASC) is pleased to announce that TASC and UKIT are offering a larger-capacity streaming server that will provide ample space for your streaming video files to be used in Blackboard. To upload files, contact Kirk Laird, Brett McDaniel, Elizabeth Stewart, or Smitha Nair for information.

Here are a few things to keep in mind:

Only videos should be uploaded to the new streaming server. (Previously we announced the new Content Collection now available in Blackboard. You may continue to place non-video files, such as Word, PowerPoint, image, or audio files in the Content Collection.)
Video types that may be uploaded are:

Windows Media Videos (.wmv)
Quicktime Movies (.mov)
Shockwave/Flash (.swf and .flv)

The URL for the uploaded file will begin with:

For wmv: mms://stream.uky.ed/bbstream/...
For .mov: rtsp://stream.uky.ed/bbstream/...
For .swf or .flv: http://stream.uky.ed/bbstream/...

Please note: Quicktime videos will need to be saved with the hinting option to stream properly.
