New Streaming Server
The Teaching Academic Support Center (TASC) is pleased to announce that TASC and UKIT are offering a larger-capacity streaming server that will provide ample space for your streaming video files to be used in Blackboard. To upload, contact patrick.logan@uky.edu for folder access to the server.
Here are a few things to keep in mind:
- Only videos should be uploaded to the new streaming server. (Previously we announced the new Content Collection now available in Blackboard. You may continue to place non-streaming files, such as Word, Powerpoint, Camtasia, or audio files in the Content Collection.)
- Video types that may be uploaded are Windows Media Videos(.wmv) and Quicktime Movies(.mov).
- Access will be by ftp only. Email patrick.logan@uky.edu for access. The ftp address is elearning.uky.edu (use the linkblue login with ad\).
- The URL for the uploaded file will be
– For wmv: mms://elearning.uky.ed/bbstream//
– For .mov: rtsp://elearning.uky.ed/bbstream//
– To stream properly, Quicktime videos will need to be saved with the hinting option.
