Jeffrey Dembo is a faculty trustee and has been a faculty member since 1987. He holds a bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Pennsylvania, a doctorate from Northwestern University, and a master's degree and oral and maxillofacial surgery residency from the University of Iowa. He is a professor of oral and maxillofacial surgery in the College of Dentistry, where he was twice voted instructor of the year by the college's students. He also holds joint appointments in the Departments of Surgery and Anesthesia in the College of Medicine. His academic area of focus is outpatient anesthesia. Dr. Dembo served as the university's academic ombud, chair of the University Senate Council, and presiding officer of the University Senate.
