2008 Horse Cave Concert Series

Quality of life includes but is not limited to health, education, economic development, and the environment. A significant component of our quality of life is associated with access to culture, entertainment, and beauty. While Kentucky’s largest cities enjoy significant access to entertainment and culture, its rural areas often do not.

Responding to this need, Ben Arnold, Director of the School of Music in the UK College of Fine Arts, is collaborating with the Kentucky Repertory Theatre at Horse Cave in offering a series of five concerts during spring 2008. This cultural engagement initiative will feature many of UK’s award-winning student and faculty musicians and bring live classical, jazz, and Broadway music to the region. The series is designed to provide access to cultural experiences for those living in Hart, Barren, Edmonson, Grayson, Hardin, Green, Taylor, Metcalfe, and Larue Counties. If the initial season proves successful, efforts will be made to make the series permanent and to expand the collaboration with other features, including workshops and master classes for area students.
