It has been truly gratifying to see the concept of “engagement” take firm root at universities across the nation. In Kentucky, we are now all working to remake our institutions and refocus our efforts to better engage with and advance the Commonwealth and the world.

This conference, too, has become a Kentucky tradition. Each fall, we learn from each other and build ties that will help us undertake ever more ambitious engagement. Together, we will respond to society’s needs, create opportunities, and prepare leaders and innovators who will move Kentucky toward a better future.

Let’s continue to build on this strong partnership and move forward.
