Apply to be a Faculty Fellow

The Faculty Fellows program is a component of Presentation U! (the QEP endorsed by SACS in April 2013). Participating fellows will get help designing instructional lessons and assignments, as well as preparing and using rubrics to evaluate and assess student work as they integrate these components into upper division courses in their majors. The obligations are listed below for Cohort numbers 3 and 4. Please carefully review the obligations below for each cohort before applying to be a Faculty Fellow.

OBLIGATIONS FOR COHORT #3

(Spring 2015, Fall 2015, Spring 2016)

Spring 2015:
Attend 5 (or more if you so choose) professional development sessions led by multimodal composition and communication (MCXC) experts to learn strategies for integrating MCXC (oral, written, visual, digital) instruction and assignments into a course. Complete an online assessment survey after each session.

To be eligible for participation in Cohort #3, faculty fellows must agree to attend these professional development sessions to be held on Wednesdays, 11:45am - 1:00pm (lunch provided). Note: If you have a conflict from 11:45am - 1:00pm on Wednesdays during the Spring 2015 term, consider applying instead for Cohort #4 (beginning fall 2015).

You will also have the opportunity to work with MCXC consultants during open office hours on Wednesdays from 1-2pm (immediately following professional development sessions), or by appointment to redesign syllabi in ways that effectively integrate MCXC components into your courses.

Deliverable: Modified syllabus with MCXC components embedded, MCXC assignment description, MCXC grading rubric, and a one to two page reflection statement about how you revised the syllabus and why.

Honorarium: $1000

Fall 2015:
Teach the newly designed course and collect authentic MCXC assessment data.
Attend 1 (or more if you so choose) professional development session that will help you implement MCXC instructional lessons and assignments into your courses.

To be eligible for participation in Cohort #3, faculty fellows must be able to teach the redesigned course during the Fall 2015 semester.

Deliverable: lesson plan, 1-2 page reflection on teaching experience, assessable MCXC student work

Honorarium: $1000

Spring 2016:
Attend 1 (or more if you so choose) professional development session to examine assessment data and modify instruction and assignments (or not) as warranted.

Consider sharing your experiences (successes and lessons learned) with new cohort of faculty fellows in the form of a formal presentation and/or documents archived in the Presentation U! online repository.

Deliverable: Reflective teaching portfolio documenting the three-semester experience. The portfolio will be archived in the Presentation U! online repository. Faculty fellows may also share their lessons learned with new faculty fellows cohort group.

Honorarium: $1000
