Find a Faculty Mentor
One of the major functions of The Office of Undergraduate Research is the pairing of faculty mentors with undergraduate protégés to create a formalized, meaningful research experience. Once the mentoring relationship is established, our office can then follow the student's progress, as well as provide advice, support and further training, e.g. tutorials on how to prepare for conference presentations. Students can volunteer time, if they just want to "get their feet wet," or they can enroll in more formalized research and/or creative activities opportunities. Either way, help is available from our office.
To initiate this process, follow the steps below:
STEP ONE: Fill out the registration form
STEP TWO: A member of the Office of Undergraduate Research will contact you to set up an appointment for consultation about the right placement for you. Together, we will search the faculty database for specific research topics that interest you and narrow your target to three to five mentors.
STEP THREE: Interview with the suggested faculty mentors to determine the best fit.
STEP FOUR: Notify the Office of Undergraduate Research about who you've chosen and we'll register your pairing in our database and follow your progress.
Happy researching!
