Advisor Awards
Every year, one University of Kentucky faculty member and one staff member are presented with a Ken Freedman Outstanding Advisor Award in honor of Ken Freedman who served as a professional adviser at UK for over 15 years prior to his death in 2001. The award is designed to recognize outstanding service in the field of academic advising. All faculty and regular, full or part-time, UK staff with significant undergraduate advising responsibilities are eligible. Students, staff or faculty may nominate their favorite advisor. A nomination deadline is usually assigned in March. Recipients receive a $500 travel grant and are recognized at an awards ceremony. Twenty-nine professional and faculty advisors have been recognized since the award's founding in 1994. Click here for recent information.
