Academic ResourcesProfessorsAll professors have office hours to meet with students. The times and location of office hours are listed in the course syllabus, or students may contact the specific academic department. Counseling & Testing CenterThe CTC employs psychologists to help students understand and change behavioral patterns such as procrastination, poor time management, and test anxiety. Thomas D. Clark Study ("The Study")The Study, home to Academic Enhancement Programs, provides a variety of resources in one central location to guide students to more effective learning such as study skills sessions, Master Student program ($25; 4 hr workshop), free peer tutoring for many 100 level courses, private tutor referrals, and individual learning skills consultations. The Writing Center The Writing Center offers free individual and group assistance with any prewriting, writing and rewriting project. Undergraduate Student appointments last 30 minutes and you are encouraged to bring your assignment with you as well as your disk or jump drive with your project on it. Students should schedule an appointment online due to limited hours. Center for Academic Resources & Enrichment Services (CARES)CARES targets underrepresented groups, including students from the Appalachian region of Kentucky, provides tutoring, study groups, study skills workshops, academic planning and monitoring, career exploration and networking opportunities, workshops on personal development issues and a Critical First-Year Program to help students achieve a 3.0 at the end of their first year. Student Support ServicesStudent Support Services provides tutoring and academic support for first-generation college students, low income students, and students with a documented disability. Academic DepartmentsAcademic departments offer pay-by-the-hour tutors by appointment. Check with the department where help is needed. The center is a computing and mathematics learning center of the Mathematics Department and the Mathematical Sciences Computing Facility at the University of Kentucky. Located in the basement of William T. Young Library, the Hub @ WT's provides library research assistance and IT help in one convenient location.
