Nontraditional Studentspic

Nontraditional students are students that fit any of the following criteria:

  • 25 years of age or older
  • Married
  • Parent
  • Starting or returning to college after having been out of school for several years

Central Advising Service is charged with the responsibility of advising all Undergraduate Studies students to promote the successful transition to the University into academic majors and professional programs applicable to the students' abilities and career aspirations. There is additional support for nontraditional students through the Adult Student Services Center.

Once you have applied and been accepted to the University of Kentucky, you will be scheduled to attend an advising conference. At this conference you will be assigned to an academic advisor. Academic advising is mandatory for all students and is designed to provide you with the necessary information for a successful academic career.

Students accepted to UK have access to APEX, an on-line degree audit that compares a student's academic work with the requirements of UK's academic programs. Accepted students may use APEX before arriving for a conference and enrolling in classes.
