Rebound: "Bouncing Back" From Academic Difficulty

All Undergraduate Studies students new on probation are required to complete the Rebound module below. Academic improvement does not happen on its own; rather, it requires an active approach toward knowledge, assessment, and planning. Students who complete the Rebound module will:
  • understand university policies regarding probation and suspension, repeat options, and grade point averages.
  • become familiar with campus resources that can assist in returning to good academic standing.
  • identify factors that compromised academic success.
  • design a detailed action plan for the following semester.

The following steps should be completed in order:

Step 1: View and print Rebound presentation

The Rebound presentation explains UK's probation and suspension policies, identifies campus resources that offer assistance, and outlines what is expected of you as a probation student. View the Rebound presentation (Powerpoint).

View EPE 174 College Student Success Outline (DOC).

Step 2: Print and take Rebound test

The Rebound test lets you demonstrate to your advisor that you understand the presentation you just viewed. View the Rebound test (DOC).

Step 3: Print and complete Self-assessment and action plan

The self-assessment asks you to identify areas of difficulty (academic, personal, financial, etc.) that you think had a negative impact on your academic performance during the past semester. The action plan allows you to choose three key areas of difficulty. For each one, describe the problem you encountered, outline specific steps to address that problem, and identify which campus resources would best enable you to overcome that problem. View the self-assessment and action plan (DOC).

Step 4: Schedule an appointment with your advisor

You can do this by visiting Room 109 Miller Hall to sign up for an appointment, or by contacting your advisor by phone or email. If you don't know who your academic advisor is, you can call the front desk of Miller Hall at (859) 257-3383. You will need to bring all three parts of your Rebound module to your meeting.

Your advisor is looking forward to meeting with you. The Rebound module is the starting point for a conversation that we hope will continue throughout your time in Undergraduate Studies. We are committed to helping you achieve your academic goals.

We will see you soon to help you begin your rebound!
