Desktop Technical Services

The capabilities of today's information technologies present incredible opportunities for improving processes and services. Information is a strategic resource which must be managed appropriately for departments to successfully achieve their business objectives. A targeted investment in information technology enables departments to redesign work processes and improve service delivery to their customers. In short, information technology assists in the delivery of better, faster and more cost effective services to customers.

Recognizing this imperative objective, Department for Technical Services was created to coordinate and guide the application of information technologies and resources. This organization is given broad desktop responsibilities for information technology (IT) leadership. DTS creates a focal point for leadership for the department's management of information resources, guaranteeing that University is poised to take full advantage of the opportunities of the information age.

The Department for Technical Services is current responsible for providing high level desktop support for many areas on campus, the implementation and updating anti-virus protection and operating system patches for campus computers. The Department for Technical Services also provides tier 3 support for other departmental technical units via a memorandum of agreement.
