Posts About Gator

Hi Guys,
I found out that Audio Galaxy used to download mp3 (music) files off the internet contains adware which they sell your browsing habits to vendors and cause for possible future spam (junk email). I downloaded Audio Galaxy off the net the other day and found some logs in my fire wall that it gave itself permission to exchange information despite my disapproval. I went to Lavasoft.com and downloaded their program for deleting adware at the suggestion of someone at AT&T Broadband. I have heard of this site before so I wasn't hesitant to go there and "Gator" is history. I have to find the specific programs and delete them. For security reasons, I don't allow just any program to access the internet. I have since increased the security level of Zone Alarm and will probably seek and delete the files below tomorrow if they aren't already. While it maybe cost free, its not free in the privacy sense. :-(

I haven't gotten much spam since but this might explain why you'd get it. I posted a copy of this to attbroadband's internal news group and got feed back as to what's happening. Interesting that it goes to DNS and DHCP ports at AT & T Broadband which are the ip addresses beside the application name.

I posted my fire wall log to show you which applications to remove to protect your privacy. I never authorized their access to the internet.

I have the Gator Client pop up problem. I think it stems from Paint Shop. Whatever what is the procedure to disable it.

harry x,
the reason you could not delete those files may be because those .exe files were running. go to 'task manager' and end those processes (like gmt.exe or cme....exe) then try to delete GMT and CME directories. i got rid of them this way.
hope you succeed.
