Startup folders
The Startup Folder is a special folder in Windows which is responsible for loading the applications during the booting processes of Windows, whose shortcuts exist in the Startup Folder.
When you normally create a shortcut to a Windows based application in order to access it, the default extension of the shortcut is LNK, whereas for MS-DOS based programs the extension is PIF.
If you wish to launch a program on booting to Windows via the Startup Folder, then StartEd takes care of the details for you. It generates a shortcut to the selected program in the Startup Folder with the extension LNK automatically.

With Windows NT4/2000/XP every user has its own Startup folder. If you are logged on as administrator StartEd will show all shortcuts in these folders.
